IPredator was launched in 2009 as a response to a growing trend of Internet censorship, in restrictive regimes as well as so-called open societies. Our main goal is to provide a seriously non-discriminating access flatrate for the Internet.

Over time we have come up with more complementary services running alongside the main VPN service, fostering our users privacy and anonymity.

We also support and are involved in various projects working for censorship-free networks.

VPN setup

We currently have more than 100 VPN servers located in Sweden. Our pricing is calculated on realistic costs per user, so that we can deliver an all-in-one flatrate. The network uplink provided by our ISP has an aggregate speed of around 40Gbits.

Once connected, users are assigned a random unique public IP address from one of our IP ranges. Users can choose between the OpenVPN and PPTP VPN protocols.

Right now we support IPv4 for PPTP and OpenVPN. IPv6 is only available for OpenVPN.

It is recommended to use OpenVPN to connect to our service. OpenVPN surpasses firewalls and routers easier and is more secure than PPTP. PPTP is considered broken and should really only be used on platforms where OpenVPN is not available.

A word about privacy

People often ask us if our service is the golden bullet when it comes to privacy. It is not. There is no such golden bullet, do not let anyone ever fool you.

Getting you a new IP address is just the first step to protect your privacy or anonymity online. You still have to be aware of the privacy problems that arise by just using any services on the Internet, like using your browser to surf on websites.

Privacy and anonymity depend in the same way on common sense and experience as other elements of life. If you want to protect yourself you need to educate yourself.
